Tasc performance was the very first line I chose for Twisted Tree! When I began researching clothing I was shocked to find out the monumental impact that retail could have on the environment. Tasc Performance inspired me to try be more mindful wherever I could when choosing companies to bring to my shop. Tasc not only upholds high quality standards but also are mindful in creating their products. For example, TASC’s knitting process utilizes more fine needles per square inch than standard traditional knits, making their fabrics not only great quality, but also smooth and comfy. Their fabric creation process uses a closed loop system which guarantees that 99% of waste water and chemicals used in their dying process is recovered and re-used. TASC’s bamboo is sourced from the Sichuan Province in China. The forest is certified by the FSC, the Forest Stewardship Council are certified organic by the USDA and OCIA (Organic Crop Improvement Association). Tasc’s manufacturing facility in India works under 90% renewable energy from solar panels and exclusively produces for Tasc Performance. The quality of their products speaks for itself. Tasc’s high quality bamboo material ensures comfort and enhanced performance. Just put on one of their shirts and you will understand. Theis line will take you from the golf course, to the gym and into the woods. “At our core, Tasc Performance is a family business. Our success is measured by the relationships we maintain and grow with each employee and your satisfaction with every piece of Tasc Performance apparel.” Tasc Website
Noel Asmar Equestrian
I chose Asmar Equestrian, first and foremost, for their quality! I have a shirt and pair of pants by Asmar that I have worn for years. They have been through my morning walks to the barn, mucking out stalls, horse slobber, you name it: they have seen it. They have been washed more times than I can count and the garments still hold up. As a product, that’s a winner! Who doesn't love a piece of clothing that lasts? Not only does a quality product good for your wallet, but good for the environment. Asmar Equestrian is also women-owned company. For me, as a business in our modern world, it is important to promote gender inclusivity. Some of their line comes from China, nut the majority of their products are not only designed in Canada but also made. I am a firm believer that human beings should be paid a fair wages and be given fair rights. Founder, Noel Asmar, created her products with the idea of functionally elegant clothing that not only offers effortless comfort but effortless style. Her clothing is a great choice for every equestrian need and style, be it mucking out stalls or dressing up for a show. As about their All Weather Rider jacket. This is a must have in your closet. The cut, the function and the quality of this coat are jaw dropping. It was the only thing I ordered for myself while purchasing for Twisted Tree! “I am inspired by the rider and her lifestyle in and out of the ring. Design, for me, is a very personal journey based on instinct and intuition — I love classic beauty with hints of fashion and my mission is to create fashion forward pieces with innovative details to create a renewed excitement for such a traditional sport.” Noel Asmar
I found Topo Designs while visiting my step-daughter in Boulder, Colorado, and it was love at first sight. Their designs are bright, unique, and eye catching. Just looking at their bags make you long to be outdoors, whether it’s on your bike, a hike or a picnic lunch! I’m something of a believer in fate. After walking through their Boulder location, I stopped to ask one of their employees some questions about their products. After chatting, I found out that she grew up spending time in Door County. What a small world! Surely this was a line that was meant to be in my shop! I purchased a few items to try them out, and really appreciated their exceptional quality. I am starting out bringing in some of Topo’s bags and accessories, but hope to bring in their clothing soon. Their products are fashionable and perfect for your next outdoor adventure. Topo Designs’ products are made in the USA, based in Colorado, and they, like me, believe that being outside is a spiritual connection with the earth. Topo’s clothing and gadgets are designed to move with your body and with nature as to not disrupt the outdoor experience. Topo produces locally and connects locally and in doing so, want their customers to feel connected to a bigger community every time they use Topo products.

Not many people know that my first love of any activity was ballet. One of my first project in grade school was a page I wrote on Maria Tallchief, an Indigenous American Ballerina. Now, my latest dancer obsession is Sergi Pulonin, who I recently saw dance in New York! I chose to sell ToeSox at Twisted Tree because not only is it a great sock company for dance, Barre, Pilates, yoga, gymnastics and much more, but they are committed to eco-friendly and sustainable products. ToeSox use certified and ecologically produced organic cotton in their grip collections. All products are made from BPA and latex free grip material. They strive to limit their carbon-footprint by using solar-power at their corporate offices and limiting paper usage. Any printed materials such as catalogs and packaging are made of recycled content. Better yet, ToeSox align with local charities to give back to our community by donating socks and sandals as well as participate in environmental initiatives such as donating a tree for every order placed for Earth Day in the month of April. What better way to connect with the earth beneath your feet than to wear an eco-friendly sock with a great story?
We at Twisted Tree hope to further ToeSox’s mission statement which is to "spread toes and love."
I bought my first two goodhYOUman shirts on Melrose Avenue in California, though I could have bought the whole store if it fit in my carry-on bag! I was drawn to goodhYOUman’s positive, funny, and creative messages on their products. I purchased a tank that said, "The good things in life make you SWEATY!" because they do, don't they? I also bought a short sleeve sweatshirt that said, "Good is the new Gangster." I have worn these shirts to yoga, on hikes, and even out for drinks! goodhYOUman’s made in the USA products are soft, comfy, light, durable, and made in styles for both men, women and children to enjoy no matter the activity. Their messages are honest, funnty, and simply beautiful just like the people who wear their products! You can’t help but feel good wearing their clothes.
Good hYOuman’s mission statement(s) were enough for me to decide to sell ther products in Twisted Tree:
TO deliver the highest quality 100% of the time. TO provide a stellar shopping experience. TO give back to the community. TO share your stories. TO create amazing and inspiring content. TO manufacture our products in the United States of America.
The good hYOUman line was created in memory of David Novek, by his son and company founder, Brett, in 2011.
"We are the original women’s bicycling company founded in 1985 by Georgena Terry.” Terry Website I saw the Terry Bike line in Utah and was I initially draw to it because Terry is a women-owned, body-positive, company that was geared toward active-wear for women of all shapes and sizes, whether you are an extra small or a 4X. Every spring and fall brings a new array of colors and patterns designed for your toughest rides or you beach bike ride into town to meet friend. And in 2014 Terry began a charitable partnership with Lund Ride for Children and Launched Wellness Revolution partnership with BCBS of Vermont. For over 30 years, Terry has been shaking up the biking industry with their designs of biking products made for the better comfort of mobile women. Terry believes that femininity and performance can go hand in hand, and that is evident in their many patterns and styles!

When I went to my first retail trade show in Utah, and the whole time I was both overwhelmed and stimulated by all the products I saw. On my way out, with starry and tired eyes and sore feet, I walked by a booth with the most beautiful prints, styles and fabrics I had ever seen. Long after I arrived back in Chicago, I could not get the brand out of my head and started obsessively researching Maloja. This German company sets high quality, honesty, and environmental standards as well as upholding a strong commitment to the community. In all Maloja international facilities, child labor, forced labor, and worker discrimination is prohibited, and safe working conditions and social standards are implemented. Their wool and down components are harvested humanely from their well-kept stock of ducks, geese, and sheep. Maloja has been internationally recognized and approved by many well established environmental agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency in the USA, ECO CIRCLE (a Japanese textile recycling company), REACH (the European Union’s chemical legislation), and the European Union’s Biocidal Production Regulation. Their clothing is designed to fit well and is durable through your every adventure. Maloja is an amazing brand I want to bring to the road and mountain biking community in Door County.
Teeki is a brand that I have worn before and when I found out my ‘Pheonix Rising’ leggings were made from recycled plastic bottles, I knew I wanted this line for Twisted Tree. Teeki is made in the USA, based in Los Angeles, and all their hot pants, goddess capris and sun shorts are made of 79% Recycled Plastic bottles (P.E.T) and 21 % spandex. As part of their eco-friendly process, Teeki doesn’t do any pre-washing or silicone washing which preserves water and eliminates chemical runoff. This brand is good for our earth and an essential for an active lifestyle. How can you not feel good wearing ‘goddess’ capris? Teeki’s sustainable fashion is made for those who march to their own beat with their bombastic colors and patterns. These pants can go on your errands, a hike, a run, from hot yoga, to the pool, the surf and lake. They are a lightweight fit made for all kinds of activities, as well as quick drying and super stylish! So wear this line to Hot Yoga, the beach, or sitting on your meditation cushion. Teeki’s prints are as unique and beautiful as the people who wear them.
The name of this company is an acronym for Define Your Inspiration! Wearing a brand with a commitment to body positivity always make me feel at my best! Their products are high-waisted, beautiful, and breathable so that no matter what you’re doing, you can both look and feel good. Designed and Manufactured all in house in Houston, TX, DYI is a brand that you can wear at the yoga mat, to the gym, or even out with friends. This product is convertible to your personal fit and style in a perfect synthesis of fashion and function. Their spring pinks make me feel feminine, their white leggings evoke feelings of clarity and simplicity, their blues and purples are dreamy, if not ethereal. In the fall, DYI delivers sophistication with their staple black leggings, majesty and prowess in their deeper purple and reds, and their earth tones will give you a sense of connectedness to everything living around you. Their line will take you from your barre class to coffee with friends without a second thought! Not only is DYI a brand, but a state of mind. DYI is about having a lifestyle of happiness, balance, and inspiration in your daily life. Here at Twisted Tree, we hope that this brand inspires you too!
I found this line online while researching runners belts! Before I even reached out, the story behind their product was what caught my eye first. Inspired by her travels around Europe, Central America, and Mexico, co-founder Elissa wanted to create an attractive way for people on the move to carry their essentials without becoming targets of pickpocketing. Money-belts only solve part of the problem and not only are they unflattering, but they’re a flashing sign to criminals to: COME ROB ME! So, Elissa’s sister, Rachel, broke out their family’s old sewing machine and created the first prototype for the product in 8 hours! The Chicago natives designed PakRat after their favorite fold-over leggings so that they would never have to sacrifice a cute outfit again for an ugly money-belt to hold their essentials. PakRat is a descreet, comfortable, and flattering way to carry your phone, cash, keys and much more! PakRat encourages a healthy lifestyle on the go, letting you look and feel your best on your adventures. This company is a home-grown, good-ol-USA, success story of two women taking on the world. I reached out to Elissa and asked to purchase a belt to test out. She promptly mailed me one out and when it arrived I opened it with excitement! The texture and fit were amazing, it reminded me of my favorite pair of fold over leggings. You slip it on like a pair of pant, slip your phone, id, and cash inside, fold over and your off. The reflective detail used to print their name was just an added bonus. My runner friend Rachael tested it out for me and her reviews matched what everyone online was saying. A comfortable belt that holds your phone, id, and cash and stays in place. This belt packs away small and is washable. Plus it doubles as the most perfect travel belt that can be worn easily and discretely under your favorite hoodie!
Polar Bottle Company
My mission for a sports water bottle product for Twisted Tree began in my own cabinets. I never used to think about the brands I owned, opening a business certainly changed that. I have had the same insulated bottle for quite a few years. I had purchased the bottle right down the street at my local bike shop in La Grange. When I saw ‘Made in the USA’ on the label of my pink Polar Bottle, it turned out that this was a mindful purchase I had made (far before I ever cared about being mindful). This bottle has been on my bike and used for over 8 year and has clocked more miles then I can count. Founders of Polar Bottle, Robert Heiberger and Judy Amabile of Boulder Colorado, made their product with a commitment to eco-friendliness and giving back to the community. Not only is this product made in the USA, but it is also BPA free, meaning that this product is no harm to the environment or the people who live in it. They even have DIY instructions for recycling on their website in exchange for 50% coupons. Choosing Polar Bottle as my product of choice for Twisted Tree was easy. Their mission statement really says it all: "Create products that have a positive, long-term, impact on the lives of our customers and the health of our planet; support our employees and community, and those of our suppliers, by keeping our manufacturing in Colorado and sourcing USA-Made materials for our products."
I saw Strongbody at a show in California! I was originally drawn to the companies hashtag #ChooseToBeBetter. That was a hashtag I could get on board with! So I met the couple that owns and started Storongbody at their booth in California! I love the feel of their fabric and the design, the sharp red line of venting that was cut down the back of the shirt was not only beautiful, but functional for your workout as well! Read about them and their companies philosophy, I am sure you will agree that this company is Choosing to Be Better!!

ECO FRIENDLY TECHNOLOGY
INNOVATION CHANGES EVERYTHING
We have researched and tested hundreds of fabrics and performance technologies and our Nano Elite+ does it all, but better! Engineered for unmatched style and function, Strongbody Apparel introduces technologically advanced activewear for working out, or hanging out. Strongbody’s products deliver superior performance by incorporating nanotechnology from the ocean. The magic ingredient, chitosan is a linear polysaccharide harnessed from the shells of crustaceans, and inhibits the growth of odor causing bacteria on your clothing. The antimicrobial solution is adhered to the textiles via an aqueous solution, and the nano and submicron dimensions of the molecules enhance the durability and feel of the fabrics. The technology is also non toxic and environmentally friendly, and is safe for those with shell fish allergies.
This innovative technology is certified by the US Environmental Protection Agency and transforms a byproduct of the fishing industry into a natural and renewable performance technology, bringing even more performance benefits to Strongbody athletes. Strongbody Apparel is optimizing it’s products to be easy on the world, and on the one doing laundry.
Chitosan has been used as everything from a dietary supplement t o a blood-clotting agent in bandages . It also happens to be naturally antimicrobial and safe for those who are allergic to shellfish.

I heard about Bedrock sandals in an email I received from the Outdoor Retailer show when some major retail lines started to drop out of the Utah location because of the Governor there and what was happening with their public land. A few larger retailer had chosen to boycott their upcoming show and this smaller line chose to do the same. I love when someone stands up for what they believe and I was inspired to support them site unseen. I immedialy started researching their history and their line of shoes and was not surprised by the reviews online. I ordered from them immediately.
This brand was conceived and cultivated in Northern California by co-founders Nick Pence and Dan Opalacz. The two wanted to create sandals that were durable enough to keep up with outdoor lifestyles. BedRock sandals are based and manufactured in Richmond, California and with every sale, a percentage is goes to helping conserve and restore the environment. What makes these sandals unique is their holistic design. With a comfortable and stylish fit, these sandals are meant to not only move with the natural flow of your feet but your entire body.
My Sales Rep at Tasc Performace brought these bright flipflops to my shop when showing me their fall line because they though they might be a good fit and they were right. These flip flops will brighten up you roots with their summery colors and warm your heart knowing your connecting to the earth with soles made from recycled rubber. A Big Attitude
A Big Attitude is a world-renowned company that is dedicated to creating quality, plus size active wear. Founder Cynthia Tivers-television producer of Freddy Speaks and Secrets of Superstar Fitness-realized the plight of the average woman. Television was full of celebrities and models that would brag about how little they ate to fit into those size 6’s and tabloids were obsessed with the ultra-slim woman. Tivers realized that real women leading their lives outside of the Hollywood scene couldn’t afford to starve themselves and spend enormous amounts of time at the gym to become slimmer. Tivers found that not only was the media obsessed with this unattainable idea of ‘the slim woman’, there were also little to no choices of active wear for individuals that didn’t identify as ‘small’ or ‘extra-small’. Tivers set out to create a brand of clothing that suited women of all body types and came in classic styles and simple colors for a no-fuss workout. Her brand has even been used to fit contestants on the television show, ‘The Biggest Loser’. Woman owned and Made in the USA, their sizes range from 1X to 5X, so that no matter your body type, you can begin a healthy lifestyle in style.
I saw these leggings on an amazing woman I follow on Instagram, @mynameisjessamyn. She is strong, beautiful, and honest in her voice and her yoga poses. She embraces her body and her practice in ways I could only dream to do.
Founder and talented seamstress of Lineage is Katie Pippin. She spent years of her life as creating costumes for Broadway shows such as Wicked, The Lion King, and Phantom of the Opera. Outside of Broadway, Katie kept an active lifestyle with running half-marathons and hot yoga. Lineage active wear is a synthesis of Katie’s two loves: sewing and yoga. Like the magic of Broadway, Lineage is also handmade in New York City, USA. Lineage is produced ethically and sustainably in the belief of fair employee rights, environmental responsibility, and inclusivity. Lineage believes that all bodies are gorgeous no matter shape or size. That’s why there are no surcharges for plus-sizes. Lineage is also a strong believer in giving back to the community, “o date, we have raised over $28,000 in cash for various charities such as Bend to Mend, NEDA, Project Fit America, Team For Kids, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This body positive line has stunning prints, beautiful cuts and offers sizes for babies, children, moms to be, and adult sizes from an XS to a 4X!
Sarah Metal Smithing
I found Sarah’s line of jewelry on her Etsy shop. Her “roots” felt organic and real. Wearing her creations are a simple way to look down and be reminder that we are all connected. She had makes everything in Michigan and purchasing her creations mean you are supporting an amazing artist who is creating art and jobs in the USA. Here is a little info from her webstore! In my shop, handmade means that I cut out each shape with a traditional jeweler's hand saw, solder them with my torch, and file and shape the designs by hand. I use hand tools to make every design, and for almost every process (I use a machine, my tumbler, for a final polish and shine, but only after I've hand-sanded and hand-polished each piece!). I've even blacksmithed to make some of my tools by hand, and I welded my own custom workbench to fit my space-conscious studio.
I celebrate the profound meaning that can be packed into the tiniest object: strength, hope, joy, nostalgia. I believe that objects made by hand have an inherent value, embedded in the process of their making. I love the makers mark, the tiny flaws, signatures that reveal the personality of the maker. I believe that objects have memories of their own, and take a part of me with them, that once they leave my hands they begin their own journeys. I love the expansive reach of my jewelry, connecting people through a common idea over a vast landscape.
