Thankful

These past two weeks, I’ve been thinking a lot about Thanksgiving I think this year has been hard on so many people in so many different ways. Whether it’s business challenges, illness, the death of a loved one, racism, the loss of a pet, or the end of friendship, it's been really hard. I watched people post online all about this being the worst year. Heck, I have said that myself a few times.

I had some time to think about that the past two weeks as I made the difficult decision to say goodbye to my horse, after just saying goodbye to my dear friend Tucker in February. And as hard as it was I have so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for the people I know who had COVID that are today healthy. I am thankful for the women in my life who stepped up and helped save my businesses when I thought we could not survive this economy. I’m thankful for my family, and for the friends and customers who knew that many businesses in Door County were scared and struggling, and who did everything they could to help us all make it through. I’m thankful for Miss Maple, who by sheer fate ended up being mine. I’m thankful for all of the time I had with my horse Penny Lane. The list of people and things I am thankful for this year could go on and on. What are you thankful for?

I’m thankful for the community support of my business and of myself personally. I am thankful for family and friends and fur- babies. I’m thankful for second chances, for growth, for light and love, and mostly for the absolute beauty here in Door County.
